i'm really having trouble understanding the "short row" in the HALCYON shawl. can you explain it to me......the directions make me feel realy inadequate........i thought i was a very good crocheter, hmmmmmmmmmm

Hi Ina Ray! Thanks for stopping by...
A short row is basically just that you don't crochet to the end. In this case, you're going along, hdc, and then when it tells you to turn, you turn the work as if you were at the end of the row. I think you do this twice? Then the pattern will tell you to crochet to the end. What it does is leave a little bump, a little bit of shaping, in this case for the shoulders, so the shawl will sit on your shoulders a bit better. Hope this helps and clarifies a little bit! |
