View Article  christmas presents...
hooray!! i can finally post christmas presents that i made for everyone!! clicking on a pic will let you see it in more detail....

i crocheted this scarf for al. it's done in single crochet's and then fastened off at the end of each row. the fastening off tale makes the tassles. i used bernat cotton tots in wonder white, blueberry, little boy blue, grape berry and lovely lilac. the cotton tots is fabulous to work with, and it's so incredibly soft! much softer than regular cotton.

denim style. i made this scarf for ashley with bernat denim style in stonewash. i edged it with just a soft white baby wool that was actually quite a bit thinner than the my gramma taught me the stitch and it's knit pearl, knit pearl , knit pearl, all the way across. on the second row you knit the knits and pearl the pearls, on the third row you reverse it for two rows. so, you would pearl the knits and knit the pearls. very easy to screw up if you're not paying attention. this scarf actually has a lot of mistakes if you look closely!

this hat was also for ashley and done in the same stitch as the scarf. i simply made a large rectangle and folded it in half, sewing up either side. then i tied string around the point to make ears. i used the same white to edge it with, and i did mostly double crochet rows, with a few single rows thrown in for warmth. i was getting tired of this project by the end, so i did some crazy triple crochets at the very end! ephraim is the ever so cute model in this pic!

this one i did for shannon on big needles (15 mm i think) with the bernat boa in parrot. just straight knitting all the way! and, the beauty part of this stuff is that it really hides a lot of mistakes!

this hat i did on round needles with the bernat cotton tots in the grape berry. i think i used 5mm needles and cast on about 52 stitches. then it was straight knitting around and around!! the brim i crocheted in bernat eyelash in cool. i just did double crochets all the way around. this stuff is great too, it hides all kinds of mistakes! i'm still working on a scarf to go with this one....

this one i'm still working on... i started out with knitting three rows, and now i'm doing knit pearl, knit pearl... it's done in patons allure in sapphire, and i threw in some light yellow baby twist stuff i had laying around... this stuff is SO thick! i'm using giant needles for it too.

and, last by not least, i made this one for me!! i already listed the pattern for it , here, but in a nutshell it's knitted on 6 mm needles and it's cast on 21 stitches
knit the first three rows
knit 3, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 5, knit 3
then knit 3, pearl 5, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 3
do this for as many rows as you want to (i did six rows)
then reverse it...
so,
knit 3, pearl 5, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 3
then, knit 3, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 5, knit 3

i edged mine in ten rows of single crochet, and then of course you need tassles!! i also did a row of single crochets around the entire scarf and then scalloped it.... makes it look a little more elegant.... gives it some zing!

so, that's about it.... except for the magnets... and.... and.....
View Article  checker board type pattern....
i'm just about finished another scarf! i usedbernat denim style in the jordache colour, and i'm edging it inbernat cotton tots white. i think i'm going to fringe it in both the blue and the white.... just to make it interesting.

the pattern is fabulous though, it's really easy....

cast on 21 stitches
knit the first three rows
knit 3, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 5, knit 3
then knit 3, pearl 5, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 3
do this for as many rows as you want to (i did six rows)
then reverse it...
so,
knit 3, pearl 5, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 3
then, knit 3, knit 5, pearl 5, knit 5, knit 3

i edged mine in ten rows of single crochet, and then of course you need tassles!!

it looks kind of woven or checkerboard like when it's finished.... the lady at yarn ewetopia who taught it to me used two different wools held together.... also very pretty!!

hopefully i can post a pic later on!

i've been going a little crazy with knitting lately.... and a bit of crocheting too!! i finally finished my scarf, which is so long and soft, i absolutely love it... and i've been working on a bunch of different things too. i just got some ofpaton's allure and it is absolutely beautiful. i'm using the sapphire, but i really want to try amethyst. it is so rich looking! i've also been using bernat's eyelash. i kind of made a crazy hat out of it, but i'm not sure if i'm happy with it. i think it's a little too floppy. the eyelash isn't really stiff enough to hold it's shape. one of my fellow knitting girlfriends has done some beautiful work in the boa. this stuff doesn't really look like much until it's worked up, but worked up it is gorgeous. so sofisticated looking.

i am absolutely in LOVE with the bernat cotton tots. the colours are SO yummy! and it works up like an absolute dream. especially to crochet. i'm going to try knitting it next to see how that goes....

would love to hear about any other kind of different yarn.... especially stuff that isn't too pricey!
View Article  knitting parties and lots of kids....
so, i had a knitting party this morning, and it was so much fun!! a couple, well three, girls that i know came over with their kids and the kids all actually played nicely with each other on the floor! eight kids got along for two hours! amazing, eh? i think there must have been some divine influence there....

then, i got to go to yarn ewetopia all by myself while jen stayed with the kids. it was so nice to just browse around, and they are so fabulous at the store. one lady gave me two patterns for free, and showed me a lot of different things and ideas i could do with some scarves. however, some of their yarn was a little pricey for me, walmart girl by nature.... just not worth it, i'm afraid! but, they had such beautiful beautiful wool.... sigh. to have lots of money.... to have time to make so many projects....

i love being crafty!
